Discwoman was launched by Frankie Hutchinson, Emma Burgess-Olson and Christine Tran. Discwoman is a New York-based platform, collective, and booking agency—representing and showcasing cis-women, trans women and genderqueer talent in electronic music. They wanted to highlight the diversity in EDM beyond the house names like Tiesto or Deadmau5, who happen to be straight white men. Since 2014, Discwoman has evolved from 2-day festivals to events in 15+ cities hosting over 150 DJs & producers.
This year Discwoman’s work is being featured by Smirnoff in a film series called Tribes. Tribes dives deep into some of the world’s most interesting music collectives that are fostering diversity and inclusivity within dance music. In addition to this great documentary about Discwoman, Smirnoff is giving Discwoman rights to perform at the Smirnoff Sound Collective in Miami on 19 March with an all-female line up of British DJ Laura Jones, Honey Dijon, and Tokimonsta.
