It would be remiss if we didn’t state the lighter antics of the first season of David J. Cork’s webseries, “Bi.” The show was unique in its ventures into the mind and relationships of a Black bisexual man, Alex (Cork), in New York City. While heavily sexual, its humor and attitude reflected a fresh and accessible tone, something that is flipped on its heels with the second season premiere.

Some of the characters have taken flight although Cork has stated that he is “always open for their return” but now the focus is more concentrated on trying to understand Alex as a character, a move that was smart and also risky seeing as though the first season was great in giving each character their own share of mischief and drama.

In an interview, Cork explained about why he incorporated the act of drugs and meth within the series. “I just thought cocaine would be too easy,” he says. “I wanted something darker and meth is creeping into our community. We don’t think it is but it is.” The edgier circumstances surrounding the drug use are a storyline within itself that audiences hope to see fleshed out in following episodes, especially since they requested according to Cork, to see heavier subject material.

“Bi: The Webseries” premiered yesterday on Youtube and invites us to a brand new crop of fresh faces and a new romance for Alex, despite the love triangle the protagonist was caught in previously. The production is more advanced, the story is more centered and we’re excited to see more from this rising webseries.
