Experimenting in College

When it comes to social change and experimenting with sexuality there is no other place like college. College is the one location where groups of people come together to find their identities in human beings while still reaching the next level of their academic life. As the world changes, we as human beings adapt to these new changes and also experiment with what’s new out there.

So what’s going on in college? What forms of experimentation are our favorite academic scholars doing it?

One thing that is becoming recognizable is the openness and conformity that particularly heterosexual men have when it comes to their human sexuality. I have met a lot of straight men who are not afraid to walk around naked in front of their fellow males, or admit to me that sometimes, they like the feeling of cuddling with another man in bed. Whether their gay or straight, it doesn’t matter. The feeling that there is another man cuddling with them is one of the ingredients to having a good night sleep.

Experimental marijuana and other drug consumptions like ecstasy are becoming a part of the social norm. This can be most commonly happening in underground concerts and the techno scene.

Men in college also appear to be taking a couple of more time to experiment in their fashion more actively than women. This might be one of the influences that society took, and that’s why events like a male New York Fashion Week are happening right now.

There are open discussions on religion and politics. When it comes to discussions such as same-sex marriage it appears that college students are more open and supportive about this subject than anything else. In many cases, they relate to the struggle of same-sex marriage to the Civil Rights Movement, as if correlates to the fight for equal rights.

This is only a few of what’s going. One thing is for sure. College is always the central location when it comes to experimentation, whether it’s your sexuality or your lifestyle.
