June marks the beginning of Black Music Month. “What is Black Music Month?” , you may ask… In June of 1979 President Jimmy Carter along with the support of song writer Kenny Gamble designated June as the time to formally honor the rich history black music. This year in honor of Black Music Month, SOULE will celebrate a black LGBT music artist for each day of the month.
Today we celebrate the talented, Le1f. Le1f is an American rapper and producer from New York. He runs the hip hop label Camp & Street, which is a subsidiary of Greedhead Music. He is well known for his unorthodox production styles and also for being an openly gay rapper. (Wiki) Le1f has also gotten national/international attention since his debut on last night’s episode of Late Show with David Letterman.
