June marks the beginning of Black Music Month. “What is Black Music Month?” , you may ask… In June of 1979 President Jimmy Carter along with the support of song writer Kenny Gamble designated June as the time to formally honor the rich history black music. This year in honor of Black Music Month, SOULE will celebrate a black LGBT music artist for each day of the month.
Today we celebrate the talented, Baron. Baron is a multi-award winning electro/hip-hop recording artist living in New York City. Diversely inspired by 80’s rock, 90’s hip-hop, and today’s synth electronica. Baron’s style is both retrospective and contemporary, his unique blend of meaningful vocals, pop songwritings, and hip-hop nuances creates a poignant yet eclectic mix of music. Afro-Punk described Baron’s latest EP RadioHeart as accomplishing “the almost impossible by seeming “retro” without actually conjuring a specific time or genre. It’s a grab-bag of electro sounds past.” Baron is currently working on a new project scheduled to be released later this year. Stay connected with his website www.artistbaron.com or follow him on Twitter and Instagram @artistbaron.
