Michael Sam Alouttes Football Player

The Montreal Alouettes announced on Friday that the club has signed international defensive end Michael Sam to a two-year deal. Michael Sam, was the first and currently only openly gay player ever drafted by an NFL team back in 2014.  Sam made history in last year’s NFL draft when the St. Louis Rams selected him in the seventh round as the 249th overall pick. The Rams cut Sam, who was fighting for a final roster spot, on August 30. He was then later picked up by the Dallas Cowboys but only played on the practice squad only to be cut in October.

Sam very ecstatic about the news went to twitter to share his delight.

Since then he made the news again when he was on the latest “Dancing With the Stars.” He didn’t win the contest, but he appeared at the finale Tuesday.

The Montreal Alouttes Manager, Jim Popp, gratefully accept Michael Sam as a defensive end..

“With the signing of Michael Sam, we have become a better organization today,” said Alouettes’ general manager, Jim Popp. “Not only have we added an outstanding football player, we have added even a better person that brings dignity, character, and heart to our team.”

Sam will be available at a press conference to be held on Tuesday, May 26 at 11:00 a.m. at the Opal room of the Montreal Airport Marriott.
